Whether you enjoyed Thursday’s sweltering hot weather or not, you definitely won’t enjoy the hours of rainfall ahead.
The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Brooklyn and the New York area. A heat advisory will also continue until 6 p.m. and a Flood Watch is in effect until 6 a.m.
The original forecast called for rain in Coney Island by around 2 p.m., but as of 4 p.m. people were still enjoying the beach and boardwalk, and the rain had not yet arrived. The wind picked up throughout the day, however.
The Weekend Outlook
Rain showers are in the forecast for Friday — up to 3/4 of an inch of rain — and we could even see thunderstorms again on Friday night. Temperatures are expected to be much milder at around 73 degrees.
Temps will climb to 86 degrees on Saturday along with mostly sunny skies. Sunday is expected to be almost exactly the same, with a high of 87.
