NYC parks will host a free sports festival this upcoming weekend, August 5 and 6, featuring volleyball competitions on Saturday and an obstacle course competition on Sunday. The deadline to sign up for the volleyball competition is Thursday, August 3 at 11:59 p.m.; the obstacle course does not require registration.
The event is open for players ranging from beginners to experts and prizes will be provided for first and second-place winners. It will be located at the boardwalk entrance at W. 10th Street and is open to the public.
The following competitions are included, according to NYC Parks:
Adults 18 and older
- men doubles
- women doubles
- coed doubles
- coed quad
Teens 14 and older
- Coed Quads

Sunday’s obstacle course event might look difficult, but it’s open to all skill strengths, according to NYC Parks. The event features pull-up and dip contests, too.
The following is a schedule of events for the day:
- Obstacle course time: 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
- Pull-up / Chin up time: 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
