A Carl’s, Jr. restaurant is under construction on Surf Ave. in Coney Island, just a few doors down from Applebee’s.
A spokesperson told Coney Island News that there is no official timetable on the opening of the restaurant, which will be located at 1201 Surf Ave. between the Coney Island/Stillwell Ave. station and the West 8 St./NY Aquarium station. But they told us they “hope to share additional details in the coming weeks.”
The restaurant’s Coney Island outpost has signage and a storefront donning a “coming soon” sign, but the walls are largely covered as they prepare for the opening.
Currently, the chain is promoting a $5 “All-Star Meals” package, which includes a variety of combo deals featuring different main courses, sides, and soft drinks. They also offer breakfast options such as a steak and egg burrito and a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit.
The restaurant could be expected to compete with other local burger joints — they call themselves the “pioneers of the great American burger” — but they do not serve alcohol, which sets it apart from nearby locations such as Applebee’s.
Carl’s Jr.’s arrival in Coney Island comes after it unsuccessfully tried to convince Amazon to purchase their restaurants in what turned into a public social media campaign.
