A farmer’s market at Coney Island Hospital is offering affordable, healthy produce options every Wednesday and Friday until November 22.

The market is a joint effort between the hospital and Harvest Home that lasts from June until November. It presents an array of options and, importantly, great accessibility. Those who have an EBT card can get free fruits and vegetables: for every $5 you spend, you get an extra $2 back.

All forms of payment are accepted, including EBT/SNAP, Health Bucks, Green Checks, Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) coupons and Women, Infants and Children (WIC) coupons, according to the Hospital. Locals can also get free cooking demonstrations to learn how to prepare farmers market produce.

The market is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features two different local produce vendors. “Alex Tomatoes” is present on both days and offers a wide variety of fruits and vegetables ranging from squash to grapes to broccoli to beans and more.

R&G Produce, a “family-owned and operated produce farm in the Black Dirt Region of Goshen, NY,” is at the market on Fridays only.
